Just installed it and when I power on the machine, the card lights up and the fans circle but (connected thru hdmi) there is nothing on the screen. I then plug my hdmi into the hdmi port on my motherboard and the computer starts up.
An important note to mention is that when installing I couldn't get it to secure very well. I had to push and then manually press the lock on the PCIe slot - even then, I'm not so sure it is in there right. What's the big idea, why wont it secure on its own when I push it in? The card is a bit long and extends all the way to the SATA ports, where it sits on top of them. But that shouldn't be a problem, I doubt my motherboard's manufacturer (asus p8z68-v pro/gen3) was that short sighted as to not design it properly.
If I may add, the graphics card is slightly tilted: http://imgur.com/a/1uGKl

Did you fill in all of the power connectors on your GPU? I don't think this is the problem because you get it to work with integrated graphics, but worth a look at, considering the amount of people (me included) that forget to plug in the CPU power.
It sounds like you didn't plug your card in all of the way. The lock should engage itself, and the motherboard should detect it and only display from there.

Yeah i just updated the thread and included a picture of what it looks like. The graphics card is not parallel to the pci slot. It looks like its tilted slightly and some of the (gold thingies????) are still visible outside of the pci slot. Could this be due to my case? Maybe not enough room.. idk cause there are wires all around

Not that I know of - is it possible that the little heatsink on the motherboard is in the way? that shouldn't be the case.

I'm going to try to clear out some of the stuff/wires in my case.

If by the little heat sink, you mean the one that says gigabyte in the picture, it sure doesn't look like it.
When you say the card isn't parallel to the slot, that's what needs to be fixed. If you can find whats blocking the card from doing that, all the pins can enter the slot and it will work.
Maybe a wire is on the motherboard where the card should lower, or, you said that the card goes over the SATA ports on your motherboard- Does the card rest on top of these?

Also, from what the picture says, is that the retention bracket may be the problem. Sometimes, they don't slot-in correctly at the back of the case and that prevents the graphics card from inserting all the way. You can bend the little tab a little in either direction, that inserts into the case, if needed.

I sold a Nitro+ 470 to someone, he has a Gigabyte motherboard. When he installed the card, it would light up, the fans would start, but nothing on the screen. He had to update his BIOS to get it to work.
Have you tried that?

I think the sata/ heatsink are getting in the way. I highly doubt that such a common motherboard would have this problem? Other than that I don't know.

Chek for a BIOS update anyway. Gigabyte and Sapphire are big brads, but it's always worth a shot.
Other than that, if it still doesn't fit right, find out for sure whats blocking it and we'll have to go from there, because generally speaking, you cant take things off of your motherboard.

I'll try to update the bios but I did it not too long ago. now if i did it right is a different question.

Here is my pc; http://imgur.com/a/1uGKl

The blue pcie doesnt go in at all. That is why i resorted to using the white one, which goes in slightly but not fully

So i just tested it on my bro's pc and it works fine. I cant believe a company like asus made such a terrible design for a motherboard. Putting the mobo's heatsink and sata right there so there is no space for the video card.

But it might be your case!
Before you return it, wait for jayambroziak to say something about the retention bracket. I don't know what he means by the little tab, because mine doesn't have it to begin with, but looking at how your card sits in the slot, it could very well be the problem.

He was referring to the other picture (which isn't mine). But I dont know. I think I'll just return it, or maybe buy a new case (but that's too much work! lol)

It worked.. I removed the motherboard screws and readjusted the motherboard and it went in. Thanks for everything guys.
Although i still may return the graphics card because it looks banged up from all the wrestling i was doing with it

But according to your picture, there is no way the heat sinks or SATA post are the problem, the card angles into them, not away. It also means that the back of the card isn't the problem. Something is wrong with the part where the cards ports exit the case. When you removed the tabs that covered the hole, did you leave a little bit of metal there that could be stooping the retention bracket? If so, pick at it with t a pair of l=pliers, or teasers or whatever, but do NOT file it, a bit of metal could ruin your whole PC.
