Windows 10 Desktop Ethernet Port Not Getting Internet

Hi there, folks:

My gaming desktop has ceased being able to connect to the internet via the Ethernet port on the back. Which is really weird because it worked fine at home and when I moved into the dorm it didn't. I've tested different cables and computers using the same connection and they all work properly.

Weirdly, my PC also used to detect WiFi connections around the area and that also quit working when I moved to college. It just has the Ethernet connection symbol with a red 'X' over it rather than listing WiFi connections around me.

If you think you know a cause or fix to this issue, I'd greatly appreciate your input.

Well if you see the network adapter in the device manager you can copy the Hardware ID's and find the driver by googling it. It's most likely an Intel or a Realtek Ethernet controller. Also you might wanna give this a try: http:// It scans for missing drivers and it can update them.

I got the pretty much same issue, re-installing the driver has no affect I hear that maybe taking out the ram and cmos battery might help if you are getting a message while re-instilling the driver that the device is in deep sleep mode, I still have to give it a try. If it works I'll post the results here.

Where can I find these drivers? I still have the disk that came with the motherboard and I tried putting it in but couldn't find a specific driver that looked right.

No, I just updated the operating system on the list to show my current operating system. It actually came with Windows 8.1 but I switched a while ago (6/8 months?) and it hasn't had problems until now. Also when you say "check its not disabled," what is "it"?
