Hello everyone,

I have an Alienware X51 computer that I got back in 2012. It was great for what I needed it for, but I ended up static shocking my graphics card while cleaning it (oops!) and I pretty much retired it because a screw got stripped and was basically stuck in the tower (I was too dumb to get it out). Also, I couldn't afford a new graphics card at the time. I have a whole new rig now, but I was wondering if it's even worth considering replacing the graphics card now. My sister has an labtop that's near the end of its life and I want to give her this one so she doesn't have to spend a lot of money for a new one. I got the graphics card out so it's ready for a new one, but my question is.. Is it worth it to replace the graphics card? The whole computer is stock to how it came. I know it's about 4 years old, but would still be a decent gaming computer I'd think. Advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Hmm, yeah the CPU and the rest is fine, but the Case is the biggest thing holding it back, because I feel it can only had single slot and rather short cards.

But it's apparently very possibly to transplant it to a new case.

I dunno how much you'd want to spend on a GPU for it, but anything up to a 1060 should be fine without experiencing any bottlenecks:

I mean, its better than the standard "PC" these days. It's not going to be able to run current AAA titles very well, but you said its for your sister so I'm not sure that will matter much. So yeah, if she wants a decent PC for basic tasks and maybe playing some older games you'll be spending a lot less getting her a card instead of a whole new computer.
