In my garage, I have an old HP Pavilion a342n (http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-pavilion-a342n-p4-2-6-ghz-512-mb-120-gb/specs/). The current motherboard doesn't have a PCIe slot for a gpu and can only support up to 1gb of ram. Can I change the motherboard for a newer one so I can add more ram and a graphics card. (Side note I am willing to change the CPU if it is needed).
Can I upgrade the motherboard? (HP Pavilion a342n)

You would need to get a new case and psu - the only reusable parts from that machine would be storage devices.
