As the title states, I need to be able to have a wired repeater in my room because it is currently a dead spot with no Wi-Fi signal. I have Ethernet running to the room that is powering my computer, but I am looking for a way to transmit that signal to my phone and tablet. Currently, I have a bunch of WIRELESS extenders that cannot connect to the router via ethernet (which is what I need), and the only old router I have is a Verizon ActionTec that will not allow me to use it as a repeater. What I am asking is what is the most cost-effective way to be able repeat a wireless signal from a wired connection?

Solution
You will have much better luck if you use the correct terminology for the type of device you want. Generally you do not call a device that takes ethernet and converts it to wireless a repeater. You are better off calling this a AP. You will find a million posts on "how do I use my router as a AP". Many devices have special options but you can use pretty much any router as a AP.
