how to use old printer

Alo, new laptop with windows 8 does not print for the old printer. the old printer is installed in our old server that uses windows xp. we use that server for storage. windows 8 can access the server ok, store documents there and retrieve them. how can we also tell the server to print in the old printer?

Well without a username and password to gain admin access to the server then all is probably moot.

May be time to consider upgrading or replacing the server. Backup all data to a couple of other locations and verify that the copies are good.

Then reinstall a new OS on the old server box and copy the data back. Then set up and share the printer.

Or buy a new computer/OS and set that up as a replacement server for the data and printer. Then, when all is working, retire the XP server.
