Swap the ms28 circuit board to the ms25.... Viable if the circuit boards are truly identical at all levels.
Would not be surprised if there is some proprietary firmware and circuitry involved to prevent people from making circuit board swaps between models.
Mechanically the swap could be prevented by just some simple difference in screw alignments between the two circuit boards.
Or all of the above.
Manufacturer's do not like people being able to fix things. More profit and less liability in selling complete units.
That is one reason many warranties are voided if the unit is opened up by the end user. Moot as your warranty is over.
Probably no harm in trying but just be aware of the risks with respect to damaging one thing or another; i.e., the drive, the circuit board, the Xbox.
The whole Xbox could end up bricked.
