Hello everyone, 2 weeks ago I made a couch gaming pc from old parts my dad and I had laying around. Here are the specs:
Intel core i5 650 3.2 ghz (2 cores, 4 threads)
gigabyte socket 1156 mobo ( I dont exactly know wich one)
r7 260x
500 watt power supply
350 gb hdd 5200 rpm

So my questions are:
1. Can anyone recommend a ssd, I dont know which one is good because my hardrive is slow and old as ****
I prefer a 240 gb one or around that spot. I manly play Ark survival evolved on it and my os will be on it.
2. I use a big 4k tv as display and when i watch a movie or play a game there always is a line or somesort in the middle. I dont know if my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu (I think it does)
So how to solve that problem? I play all my games on 1080p resolution and im thinking to move to a i5 750 on ebay.
Thank you for your help/

Solution
Samsung EVO is the standard for SSDs, but cheaper ones are not bad, especially compared to your 5400 rpm drive. I got a few cheaper PNY CS1311 240GB models for family and no issues with them so far.

For ARK, it wants some good specs to run well, the 750 vs your CPU may be a good upgrade if you don't want to fully replace the computer, it has two more cores and faster clock speeds. Do a few benchmark runs on your current system with 3DMark, reboot between them, note the scores. Then do the same once you get the new CPU and see the difference.
