GTX 980 SLI - enough horsepower for 5760x1080 gaming?

considering giving a setup like this a shot - currently running dual 980's. Will this be enough to consistently drive 60 fps (in games that support it of course).

Secondary question - given that it's an obviously bigger resolution than the current 1440p I"m running I'd expect an FPS drop, but would it be worth it to seek 144hz monitors or will it cap out closer to 60fps anyway?

It really depends on the type of games you play. I'm going to assume some of the newer more demanding games.

5760x1080 is in between 1440p and 4k for resolution. 980s in sli can run many games at 4k@60hz not always the ultra preset but nearly always the medium preset at the least.

You will not be able to run most of the mainstream games at 144hz at that resolution. To get up to refresh rates that high you'd have to start sacrificing the quality/detail by running on a lower preset. In some cases even at low preset you wouldn't touch 144hz.
