Hi there,

So I just built a computer for the first time and found that everything was working perfectly fine. Then, starting about a week ago, my computer would start to randomly crash. It would be one of two things. Either the screen would freeze and I would have to restart my computer or, more commonly, the motherboard would randomly reset. I know that it is a memory problem so I have run the memory diagnostic and it just tells me that there is a hardware issue and I should contact my manufacturer. I know that it is not the PSU, I have plenty of power being supplied. If you need to know anything else, please comment.

Thanks!

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x8GB DDR3- 1600mhz

PSU: 750W

Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5

One of the common mistakes is to presume that just because you have a power supply rated at 750W presuming you have enough power.

A power supply can be 1000w of power output, but if the internal components used in it are of poor quality, and the price of the power supply for the amount of wattage it states it can provide is very cheap say £25 to £30.

Then it can be the cause as too why you experience freezing of your system particularly when it is put under any sort of high power demand.
It`s important to take note of when the system actually freezes, such as does it happen when a game is started Max.
As the power draw from the psu in the system will greatly increase, if you have a powerful graphics card fitted to the system that...

Memory that is under volted, can often be the cause as to why a system will also freeze during use, or suddenly reset at random times.

Forgetting to enable Xmp memory mode in your bios if the memory you have states it is Xmp capable.
