I took out both hard drives and put main one back in. Now computer powers on but doesn't beep and nothing on monitor. I haven't worked on a computer in several years and really don't know what I'm doing. But I also have no money.

Thanks.i did try that. It didn't help. Now the computer won't even power on. I think I fried my mb. Trying to beg, borrow or steal to get a new desktop.

I finally had someone come look. We got it to boot, and then it wouldn't, and now it does again. Unfortunately, when I went to restart, it started auto-installing updates. It says "Getting Windows ready. Please don't turn off your computer." For awhile now. Hopefully it won't hang. I think I need to fresh install Windows 10. But I got it free. Can I do that?

I know this is old, and your probably way past this. But in case anyone asking the same question down the road... Yes you can fresh install. Just get your CD KEY from the properties of your PC

Copy that down, in case the OS doesn't grab it from the CPU it attached to when trying to re-install... This is where your key is stored, and can be found any time for later use. We dont typically get license stickers on the back of machines with our CD KEY anymore. Its all digital.

Good luck!
