I started my service with Frontier Communications in December. For two months I was getting a down speed of 1.5mb which was amazing. After that, at some random point, it was like a light switch, boom 600kb down. I am paying for 12mbps plan, anyone have any reason to why this is? I recently bought a very nice modem and router and tried installing them. They worked for a couple minutes and I had time to run a speedtest... same garbage speeds. I will ask at another time about getting the modem and router to work correctly. I just ordered a new RJ45 cable for the new router and modem as well to see if that helps, I was using an RJ11 cable for them from the telephone jack. This is DSL internet by the way. Can someone please help me trouble shoot this problem. Talked to 6 different reps today and they all have me call different numbers or can't answer me because most of them probably don't even know what internet means yet alone how to fix it. I love how when someone that knows quite a bit about computers/a bit of networking they freak and instantly shy. One tried to sell me into upgrading my plan when another rep told me I have the fastest plan in my area! HA :D

I was very afraid to get this response, although it was one of my own. Yes I know that DSL is garbage. Next year I will be getting fiber optic internet so yay me. But you don't think there are any other things I may be able to do?
