Hello, I'm reaching out to get help diagnosing a graphics issue I'm having with my home built pc. Here are the specs:
3.20 gigahertz Intel Core i5-3470
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. SABERTOOTH Z77 Rev 1.xx
Diamond 7970PES3GDD Double Black Diamond Overclocked Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express

I'm experiencing thin flickering black horizontal lines and graininess, it comes and goes, but has been happening for longer spans of time recently. I tried removing the video card and running the machine off of the cpu's internal graphics, the computer boots but the display very quickly cuts out and the monitor displays 'no input'. Is this a video card issue? My warranty on the video card is still good, I could have it replaced or serviced by diamond. Or is the motherboard going, or the cpu? I don't have another card to use to check if it's just the card, I was hoping to use my onboard graphics while having the card serviced. But now that I see the Intel® HD Graphics 2500 aren't working, I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. Thoughts?

probably motherboard issue? would be good if you have other pc to test your GPU. or you can ask shops that doing PC repairs to test your card for you though you might need to pay the service. have you did any changes to motherboard BIOS prior to this issue?

There is not a physical button on my Asus z77 that enables or disables graphics.
In the past, when reinstalling my operating system, the on-board graphics functioned normally before the driver for the graphics card was installed, so I don't understand why it would suddenly not work now.
I tried to install the card into a different pci slot, that seemed to work for a little while, but now it is failing once again.
The reason my response took so long was because I wanted to try to screen capture the artifacting, but it has been happening too quickly. Now it is not only showing flickering horizontal lines and graininess, but I'm getting momentary black screens and pink screens.
