Hello. I just bought the asus gtx 1080 strix oc edition. And am wondering if I can get a water cooling block for it.

What I don't know, does the new EK water block for the asus 1080 strix also work for the oc edition. Or is the oc edition have something different on it that excludes it from being compatible?

I'm new to water cooling and am planning a custom loop with thermaltake's pacific rift 480 kit.

Is the EK block even compatible?

Thanks in advance!

The block will be compatible with it. Personally though, I wouldn't bother getting it watercooled, it's got such a beefy cooler on it you'll probably hit core limits before you hit the throttle point. If it's simply because you want to, then alright, but personally I might use the money on the loop to your GPU to upgrade different portions of your rig that might be a bit lacking.

It is simply because it will look super cool. Haha. So on my current beefy 1080, I just carefully take apart the cooler and then install the waterblock? I'm guessing much like putting the cooler on the cpu?

On a side note. Will that Thermaltake rift 480 kit be enough for cpu and 2 gtx 1080s in sli?

My rig:
I7-5820k
Lepa Aquachanger 240 (to be replaced by the Thermaltake rift 480)
Asus X99-Deluxe
Corsair LPX 32gb 2133 (4×8)
1200W Thermaltake PSU
MSI gtx 970 (being replaced by the asus 1080)
