i am trying to overclock my cpu to near the maximum.
i have a i7 930 (i know it's really old but i cant upgrade it for at least 9 months) and a flamingblade gti with 16gb of ram.
my method for overclocking was, lower all the multipliers and than maximize the base clock.
i got my base clock up to 180mhz (133mhz was stock) without needing to increase any voltage.
at 185mhz my pc wouldn't boot so i increase my vcore, without effect.
my pc works fine in prime 95 at 182mhz without any voltage increase (max temp about 68 C after an hour running), but at 183mhz i get stability issues, even with my vcore increased with 0.25v.
so i have my cpu now running at 3.8ghz instead of base 2.8ghz, but i would like to get a little more out of it, but i can't find what is limiting pushing my base clock higher.
it would be highly appreciated if someone had ideas what the potential issues could be.
btw. this is the first time i am trying to overclock beyond just a little, so it might be a beginners mistake i am making.
