A10 5700 upgrade. i3 6100 or i5 4590? $250ish budget. Thanks for any help.

Looking to upgrade from a10 5700 for gaming. Haswell or skylake?
Current build:
A10 5700 -CPU
1.5TB -Hard drive
8 GB DDR3 1600 -RAM
Jasmine -motherboard
Gtx 970 -GPU
500w -PSU
Mid tower -case
(original computer model number, p7-1439)

Looking to spend around $250 and wondering whether to go with an i5 4590 and MoBo or i3 6100 with MoBo and DDR4 ram????

Are there any other options to increase gaming performance? Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

Would upgrading to an 4590 be a big improvement over my current a10? Are there any other options to increase gaming performance, maybe faster ram, SSD etc that would be better than upgrading the CPU/MoBo

Since your motherboard only goes up to 1866MHz, it would be better to change both the processor and motherboard since the i5 will be about 50% better than the a10. Keeping your ram will save you money since most cheaper 1150 socket motherboards use only 1600MHz ram. A SSD will only help with load times, not increase your fps.
