Hi there, I am pretty new to pc gaming so I need some help please. I currently have an A6 6400k cpu and aquired a msi gtx 660ti for free that i fitted. It seems to work fine for what I use, but I am after upgrading the CPU. My only problem is I can only put in an fm2 or fm2+ one. So what am I best getting?? The games I play at the min are Arma 3, floght sim steam edition and fm2016. I recently gave the Doom demo a go and it ran great on high settings but my CPU was reading nearly 90 degrees after about 2hrs playing it so I havent put it on again as I am unsure of the heat threshold for CPUs. Thanks in advance for any help.

Solution
I usually compare processors on passmark.com to figure out the best one.
Your A6 6400K scored 2278
Probably the best FM2 processor is the A10-6800K which gets a score of 4897.
90 degrees Celsius is higher than the 70 degrees Celsius that the A6 6400K is supposed to take so I would be concerned too. From what I am reading though, some measuring tools are not as accurate with these processors, have you checked the temp in the BIOS after playing games for a while?

Edit: sorry did not consider FM2+ so other poster is correct that the A10-7850K is the best for your platform and scored 5546
on passmark.

Don't bother. That CPU and GPU are well matched. Upgradiong one without also upgrading the other would hardly bring any benefit.

So is my gfx card ok then? As I got it for free wasnt sure. As I said I am really a newbie in all this stuff. My temp is usually around 70 degrees so i thought it was due to maybe only having a dual core as opposed to a quad or more. I am assuming a better quality heat sink would maybe negate a better CPU as I guess the ones that come with CPU are not very good??
