Issues with GTX 1080 and Windows 10, input signal to LG TV.

I'm having an issue with my PC since I upgraded from a GTX 970 to a Palit GeForce GTX 1080 JetStream 8GB. I decided on the upgrade as I've also bought an LG 43UH750 4K TV and discovered, shockingly, that the GTX 970 doesn't seem to like playing games at that resolution.

I'm not particularly tech savvy but am confident with most simple PC hardware swaps and software issues. However, I think the first issue I experienced was from not removing the initial drivers before installing the new gpu.

After I set it up, I tested it on the Witcher 3, as it's quite a graphically intensive game. The first issue occurred upon loading the game, which resulted in a complete loss of signal to my TV. I had to Alt-Tab from the game back to the Windows 10 desktop to get the signal back, and then by selecting the loaded game again, this worked and the game loaded. I found this issue occurred with other games too, losing signal upon load-up and requiring me to Alt-Tab to the desktop.

The next issue occurred during Witcher 3 play. The fans went to full power and were very loud, but using a gpu testing software (TechPowerUp GPU-Z) I was informed that my fans were apparently running at 0rpm.

I eventually removed all drivers with Guru3D DDU and reloaded the PC and manually downloaded the drivers from NVIDIA. This seemed to run smoother, but then when I loaded the Witcher 3 again the fans kicked in to full power.

My next solution (sorry I'll get to the point, just want a record of the steps I've already taken) was to rehouse the gpu into a lower slot, which gives it a little more room and is not the one my previous gpu used. This seemed to work a lot better, as the fans haven't gone crazy since. However different errors seem to happen now.

Some games, including the Witcher 3, seem to crash Windows upon exit (so I assume, I just get the 'no input' screensaver on the TV and am unable to reload the signal), and I need to shut the PC down with a manual restart. Sometimes Window's won't load now, prompting another manual restart (screen just goes black instead of start page, and then the TV goes to the 'no input' screensaver). Also, now when Windows loads, the icons on the Taskbar flash four times, and each time includes a beeping sound.

I believe my gpu is actually working fine, and suspect this could be a RAM issue, as I had to replace my RAM 18 months ago as they went faulty, and had similar problems (No BSOD this time thankfully). Either that, or could Windows be corrupt somewhere? The main issue is that I upgraded with the free upgrade from Windows 8 and don't have an official key to be able to manually format and reinstall Window's 10 with.

My next plan will be to run MemTest86 to see if the memory is faulty, but is there anything else it could be, or I could try? Also, might seem a bit of a dumb question, but there's no compatibility issue between a gpu using DDR5 and RAM using DDR3? Only because I'm not 100% sure what they mean.

Final bit of information - I bought an HDMI 2.0 cable, could there be some issue I'm not aware of with the signal to the TV through this? I couldn't see a specific slot on the TV or on the instructions, and as games are running at 4k at 60fps, I am assuming that there's no compatibility issues here.

Solution
If your RAM went bad, it means that maybe your power supply is not good enough or your motherboard is not providing accurate power to your components.

However I don't think it is the case. I believe your card might be the problem. Give a call to Palit to figure out the fan spinning issue.

You are having a different card than me however your issues are really similar. It tends to confirm that the issue is driver or generic Nvidia hardware design related.

The issue seems to be less often with the latest Nvidia drivers.
