I'm looking to build a budget config, and in fact amd a10 7860k has more graphical power than hd 530 from i3 6100. But, in other hands, when this config becomes too weak, im planning to upgrade the system with some gpu, like rx460, gtx 950 or equivalent. Those cards can be used with both CPUs without bottle neck, but the detail is RAM. i3 6100 supports ddr4, but the a10 only accepts ddr3. Maybe in some years (3~4), if i choose a10, even if i buy a external card, could the lack of ddr4 support of a10 ruin my system? Like the games demanding ddr4 ram memories to run instead ddr3? In this case, i will have i3 as only option right now. Tnks.

EDIT: I thought in an alternative, and its Pentium g4400 + gtx 750ti/r7 360. This config will cost a little bit more than AMD APU, but i can afford. The differencial its can handle a upgrade, because g4400 uses the same mobo than i3/i5 skylake. So, when the original config become too weak, i can upgrade the GPU first, for a gtx 950/rx 460 (will bottleneck, but surely will increase the fps), and when its becomes weak again, i can upgrade the cpu for an i3/i5. In the other hands, when a10 7860k doesnt run the games more, i wont be able to upgrade the system, because the bottle neck will be much more massive than g4400, and i will be forced to buy, along with the GPU, new CPU, new Mobo, new RAM...build new PC. What you guys think about that?

Speed wise DDR3 and DDR4 aren't that much different. You can buy 2133mhz DDR3 as well as 2133mhz DDR4. I suggest 2400mhz if you go with the APU.

If it's going to be over 2 years, yeah I'd get the A10. Sure you could get the i3. But you'll have to live with okish graphics for 2 years.

Then if you get a dGPU, overclock the A10 to improve performance.

I hope this helps.

You're right, the APU does have better integrated graphics, but the i3 6100 will be able to support a dedicated GPU much more effectively. I would get the i3 6100 now and a GPU when you can afford it. It will be a little slower at first, but you'll be better off in the end. An A10-7860K is basically a dead-end, while the i3 build has much more room to grow.

I was thinking similar aswell. Either way, the A10 or i3, after 3 years it's not gona go well.

OP, the best thing you can do is upgrade to the next generation of intel core series or AMD AM4 CPUs in 2 years.

Yes dude, i agree 100% with you, but i3 will be my option if ddr3 become obsolete in 4~5 years. Why? Because my idea is, in short term (1~2 years), run games without GPU, cause i think in that time the APU will be able to run most games in 720p high or medium settings. In mid long term, i would buy a GPU to equipare my system to run future games. BUT, if in that time ddr3 become obsolete, and requires me ddr4 ram to play games, i will need to buy new motherboard, new cpu and the ddr4 ram. In other words, will need to build a whole new pc. The cheap will become expensive. Everything is about ddr3 in 4~5 years...this question is the key for me!

The i3-6100 would be using DDR4, while there are some DDR3L motherboards for the new Intel chips, there is really no need to get them.

The onboard graphics in either of those CPUs will not run "most" games on 720, even at Medium settings. Spending money to upgrade the system 2-3 times will just cost you more in the long run by a lot. An i3-6100 with an RX 460 now is better.
