I'm getting a cheap laptop for my 10 year old brother (for school mostly) but on a tight budget. Bought this from bestbuy:
ASUS X540LA 15.6" Laptop (Intel Core i3-5020U/ 1TB HDD/ 4GB RAM/ Windows 10)

He loves playing minecraft though, and he's always playing on his iPod Touch (yes, iPod touch.) I would like for him to play on a bigger screen and with a proper keyboard. My question is, will minecraft run ok, or be damaging at all to the computer? It's a UMA integrated graphics card and I'm not sure if running minecraft will be damaging to the graphics or overall performance of the computer? I actually don't know much about computers, so not sure if it even works like that. If it will damage the computer I can always let him play on my computer, but kind of a hassle cause I'm usually using it for work.

Not sure how it will run on that one my laptop has a i3 4000m. it runs all old versions pretty good. But in cure versions 1.9+ it seems to struggle to hold 60 and rendering is difficult. But 1.8 and down runs fine. the specks during 1.10.2 intagraded graphics is at 20% the CPU is 50 range sometimes spikes to 80%. ram 6gb designated 4gb. So in a whole yea it's playable yours is a generation above mine but it's got 0.4ghz slower but modded may be out of the question. A laptop i3 is much different then a desktop i3. Not sure why it has a problem on the login menu it gets like 10fps I assume 10.11 might fix this since the CPU isn't fully utilize. O and your hardware will thermal throttle itself as a safe guard. Use Msi afterburner to see how the computer is doing

All in all this is my experience (1.x-1.7 good experience, 1.8~, 1.9-1.10 not so much) my favorite version tends to be 1.6.4 it ran the best on my laptop
