So I have a fresh windows install on my PC but when I go to install the latest drivers (8/29/2016) my computer freezes every time. I tried disconnecting my monitors to only have one but that didn't work. I also tried reinstalling windows and the drivers neither worked so I'm not sure what to do.

Solution
You might need a windows update first depending on your version of windows, make sure in device manager you're not lacking a major driver (no yellow signs).
Hi Hefty :)

You are not alone with your driver issue and it may be the driver in conjunction with your GPU setup and the version of Windows you are using.
Please review this article: http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/nvidia-freezes.html.

There is also a driver uninstaller that can help if remnants of old are interfering.

Thanks for the tips guys but it actually ended up being something that was not driver related and that I wasn't expecting. I turned off the power savings settings for my CPU in bios and disabled two USB ports that were bad and it fixed my problem. Finally got my PC back to full health again.
