How to set up HP Officejet 6500 to scan

I recently set up an HP Officejet 6500 on a Windows 7 PC. I need to scan some items and I can't get it to work using the "scan" on the desktop or the "scan" on the printer.

What happens when you click "Scan" on the desktop, or press the "Scan" button on the printer?

Please post exact error messages (if any).

Also, please state whether you are trying to use the scanner wirelessly or with USB cable so I can research relevant resources.

i think its problem with your software try to uninstall old software and install latest one this may fix the problem
