Not sure which one to get for my Asus Sabertooth P67 mobo and i7-2600.

I know that The RJs were optimized for p67 and the TriXs were designed for the Z77/Z87/Z97.
The tridents have better timings and CAS latency, and G.Skill has my mobo listed on the QVL, I just want to know how much the generation gap matters as far as performance goes. Price difference doesn't really matter I just want the best performance out of the ram.

I wanted to go with 1866 because that is the cap for my mobo. However the sandy bridge recommended voltage is 1.5V+5% (1.575V) and the 1866 runs at 1.6V. With it being a nonk cpu that's 5 years old i might play it safe and keep it at 1600mhz (1.5V).

Either one will work but I did notice on the processor spec sheet that it can only work with 1333 MHz which I think means will work, but it will bottleneck your ram a little bit, but I don't think it will be noticeable. for a Sandy Bridge, you definitely want lower power consumption. I would suggest getting something in the 1.5 V range

You can go 1600, but the CPU by itself should be plenty for 1866 and 1.6/1.65 is perfectly safe. My Sandy Bridge rig was a 2500K and it's still running 32GB of 2133 24/7 with 1.65 sticks. Intel even list out a lot of DRAM certified at 1.65 for SB, IB Haswell etc. So don't worry about 1.6-1.65 - wouldn't use the old/old DDR3 that ran at 1.8 though

So I ended up purchasing the 1600 trident x set off newegg. that's true even though I have a no k? I only have the stock cpu cooler, as I have never attempted overclocking my cpu before. (noob)

Though according to the specs and reviews the trident x is very overclockable. I could easily OC them to 1866 right? Or should I just keep it stock?
