Recently my cpu usage has been through the roof so I looked into it and found that it was all coming from svchost, specifically wuauserv (windows updates), so I stopped the process. I restarted my computer and now all of my user settings lost, as are most of my files (not all, just most). Everything in My Documents is lost. Most of my programs are still on my Desktop but act as though I never installed them. All my music, photos, etc...gone. I'm not sure why this has happened. It's almost like a system reset, except that I never did a reset and some--a select few--files are left behind. Any ideas??? Is there a way to restore everything to how it was? I have no idea what the deal is.
