Help me guys...

I am having this weird problem with my PC. I could play Witcher 3 with almost all settings set to ultra and everything was fine, no overheating, no lagging, without any problem. I have Windows 10 so he updated himself automatically to the latest build and I experienced couple of freezing situations where I had to restart my PC but then was everything back to normal until today. I turned on my PC and he went to the desktop and then froze. I hit restart button and the same thing happened. After couple of time, he didn't even want to log in, he kept restarting all by himsele, he was in some king of restart loop. Yesterday I also updated my nvidia driver to the 372.70. I thought that maybe if I reinstall Windows, that it would help. But no, I reinstalled Windows 10 couple of times, I even tried Windows 7 but PC was freezing all over again. I even disconnected my drive and only SSD left, because Windows was on SSD. Problem occurs only when I install drivers for my GPU, when there is no driver installed, graphics card is working fine, without any problem. When I install driver, sometimes it gets to the desktop and doesn't instantly froze, sometimes it's good for couple of minutes. Eventually it frozes again. For a short period of time when I was able to log in and when the driver was installed, I put the graphics card to stress test. I used FurMark and the test was running for 30 min, without any problem, without any sign of overheating or something else so I thought that the problem was solved, but it wsn't, it froze again after some time, about 20 min after I stopped the test. I went to safe mode, uninstalled latest driver and restarted. As I said before, when there is no driver, everything is fine. I tried some older drivers but same happens, I even tried the driver that came in the box with graphics card but with no luck. Everything started with Windows update and now I don't kknow what to do. I don't think that the graphics card is damaged or that it's going to die, maybe it's problem with the PSU? I am currently using onboard graphics.

Here you can see screenshots of my system information:

I didn't overclock anything, everything is running on stock except RAM, from 1333 to 1600

I have Corsait RM 750 and it has one problem, the fan is not spinning as it should, only on rare occasions when the power drain is big enough, it gets very hot sometimes, but for some reason fan doesn't spin

I tried installing only driver without any other software llike 3D stuff and other things that come with Geforce Experience and I also updated BIOS to the latest version avaliable for my motherboard.

Sorry for bad english, I'm not a native english speaker.

Hope you can help me...

Solution
You have had 3 different Windows on the system, if it was a driver issue, that would have cleared it up.

Sounds like a failing card, but could be a power supply issue since you said there are fan issues. I'd replace the power supply first before you damage it more and the rest of the system.

Then you can test other things. Test the card in another system, see how it runs there.

Yesterday I was playing Witcher 3 all day, with no problems but with only one GPU. I don't know if the other one was disabled or driver wasn't just properly installed but the PC was running fine. Today everything was back to "normal", freezing started again and I tried other versions of drivers. I had even red sreen of death, don+t know what that means, I had some sort of blue screen of death right after login, but with no information about errors or anything and of course, PC restarted. I had some picture problems, there were all kinds of fragments flying all over the screen, PC was working but I couldn't do a thing. There were all kinds of pixels. green, red and lots of lines, it was like the card is struggling with something. Maybe it's her time to die :(

I am surprised like how it's able to perform one day just fine and the other day not at all..

Back up a bit, what do you mean "with no problems but with only one GPU", you have two GTX 690 cards in SLI? Do they both work fine on their own? You need to provide full system info.

First, replace the power supply or fix the fan on it.

Then test the system with onboard video only, and the cards one at a time, in yours and another system.

I mean GTX 690 is dual GPU card, so one graphical processor was disabled.

Onbard graphics is working fine, with no problem at all. Graphics card in normal mode with no driver installed is working fine. Graphics card in safe mode is working fine, but graphics card with any driver installed isn't working normal, too many unexpected things happen, every time some new error appears and because of that I think that the drivers are problem. As I said before, I ran heavy benchmarks with no problem, no overheating, no voltage problems, without any problem.

I don't have any extra PC at home so I will try by my friend, the fan on PSU isn't the problem, it was like that from the beginning, it has some kind of zero rpm mode, I can tell you that fan isn't the problem because I saw the fan spinng couple of times, when the power draw was big enough

It's probably the card, if it was the driver, how can it last through 3 Windows setups? If you had a squeak in a car, and you replaced one part 3 times, would you continue to look at that part as the issue or look in another area? Failing cards do work in safe mode and with basic VGA drivers often, then fail when regular drivers are installed.

I understand what are you saying but I don't understand why sometimes I am able to use my card on 100% and other times I can't even install driver. I'll try it in other PC and post the result here.

Card is wotking as it should in safe mode and in normal mode until I install any kind of drivers. It doesn't matter if it's new or old, effect is the same - freezing and all kinds of blue screens of death.
I updated my BIOS to the latest version avaliable but that dodn't fix anything. Everything started with latest windows 10 update, I think that it's called aniversary update, it doesn't matter which windows I install, always the same, I was thinking of installing some kind of linux

Hey guys I tried my card in friend's PC and the same thing happened, after successful driver installation, PC normally restarted but the desktop didn't show up so we had to restart it. After that there was no signal on monitor and I can say sthat the card is responsible for those restarts.

Can I do something about the card? Is it possible to repair it? Sell it somewhere?
I've seen some guys putting dead cards in microwave or oven for couple of minutes and after that they were back alive.
Could I do that?

That really only fixes pcb issues. If the gpu or one of them is shot then that won't really help. Yu can possibly send it back to nvidia and see about having it repaired but honestly the 690 is just 2 680's on one pcb and 680's are all but worthless these days. You would probably pay close to have it repaired as what you could buy a 970 for or something along those lines. I would say just buy a new video card and be done with it.

You can put the card on eBay with listing the issue for parts, would not sell for much though. A GTX 950 is as fast as the GTX 690 if you want a straight replacement for about $120, or a GTX 1060 for a faster card for about $200.

I wouldn't agree with you that the 690 is same as 950, I could easily play almost every current game on maxed out at 1080p with no problem at all, far above 60fps

You know I am kind of a person that buys top of the line hardware, I mean not every year, only when I think I should upgrade. Currently I am a student so I don't have much money to spend on a graphics card, I could buy a mid range graphics card but I am not interested for that. Maybe next gtx series in 2017.

PassMark 3D ratings for both 690 and 950 are just about identical G3D Mark 5236 5276

I looked up the 3DMark scores, and the 3DMark 06 looks to be much better for the 690. Looks like you need to go with the 1060 for a newer card.

Well thank you for your time and your answers but that 1060 is not for me, I want always everything on ultra so I'll save some money for the next nvidia gpu.
