I'm thinking about getting an SSD and was wondering if I can still store games on an HDD but run them on an SSD? I have a 1 TB HDD and a 1 TB External hard drive and want to use them for storing games, and also don't want to have to by a 1 TB SSD (waaaayyy too expensive), please help!

Other than load times etc, and SSD vs HDD isn't going to make any real noticeable difference in games.

Store games that do a lot of loading on the SSD, store save-files & games that don't 'load' often on the HDD(s).

What do you mean "without losing everything"? You can either clone your drive (but that will clone EVERYTHING to the SSD) or you can install the OS clean on the SSD (via a USB drive or Disk, depending on the OS) and then map directories etc back to the HDD.

In short: yes, that's exactly the setting that's used most often - due to the cost of high capacity SSDs.

Install your OS on the SSD. Ideally store your most commonly used programs on their too - as the added speed is nice.

When you're installing games (or just save files for games themselves) just direct the download/storage location to the HDD of your choice.

I just figure if a game is stored on a certain drive then it will open/run on it which is my problem, and for the OS and common programs, I'm not sure how to reinstall my OS on another drive without losing everything.
