Can I use squeezable lip balm as a temporary TIM?

I will be receiving a Corsair H50 v1 soon and I have no thermal paste. Would using squeezable lip balm, like Carmex, work better than metal to metal contact?

How long is "until"?
Until tomorrow, for only turning it on....sort of OK.
Any more than that...no.

Probably. Almost any goopy organic will do for a while. It may have adverse effects on the heat spreader and heat sink though. Chemicals can behave differently when heated.

What is preventing you from getting some thermal compound? Most big box stores carry it, and certainly any computer repair shop.

Nothing is really preventing me at this point. I just want to know if it will suffice until I get some real TIM.

You took a lot of chances with that, grease is petroleum based and could eat up on the insulation if leaked. Also, copper in that grease has much coarser particles than found in proper tim.

True enough, but I was very careful in the application of it...

Nothing like this... LOL.
