Hey everyone i have a Samsung 2 TB hard drive model: HD204UI never had any problems with it, its about 1 year old now, and yesterday it suddenly froze and started making a clicking sound which i uploaded here https://clyp.it/0cxm0mqx (excuse at 2 seconds my phone taps the case) and if i leave it on for a few minutes sometimes its stops clicking and starts making a sort of high pitched grind noise. Is there any fix for this? or do i have to buy another one, what worries me is getting back all the data i have on there. Thanks in advance.

Hey there, ElKoroto.

Unfortunately it really sounds like the drive is in a pretty bad situation. You could try connecting it via different cables and ports, or even better, by using a different computer, to see if the same thing happens. If the HDD is not recognized by any computer, then I'm afraid the only thing you can do yourself, is to give it a try with Ubuntu Live USB/DVD and see if you're able to access the drive with that OS and get to your files. Note that this sounds like physical damage and it's possible that the more you use the HDD, the worse it might get. Your best and most reliable option would be a data recovery company.

Hope that helps.
