I recently moved to a college campus and have been experiencing some troubles with connecting to game servers. It all started when I went to restore my computer to a checkpoint so I could re-do some programs that I had installed. Well, the thing glitched out decided to do a factory reset, but keep all of my personal files. I had to reinstall all of my drivers that didn't come when Windows 10 re-installed itself, and a lot of programs so I could get back to what my computer use to be. I've fixed everything except this one thing, and I have no idea how. I have been looking into an answer for over 5 weeks now, and there is just nothing that has been working.

I'm a total noob when it comes to networking and a lot of computer terms, so please go a bit easy on me.

Any and all help is appreciated, and thanks in advance!

That's what I anticipated was the issue. The only way around it would be to use a wireless 4G dongle for gaming with a compatible router that will allow a 4G dongle as the WAN source, but unless you get an unlimited plan it could get expensive.

Since you posted in the wireless forum, are you using wireless to connect? If so, does the adapter show up and work for other connections like web pages?

Can you provide some hardware details?

Had you ever opened any firewall ports for any of the games before the reinstall?

Are the games all STEAM or any in particular?

Yes, I am using wireless internet, and I can connect to web pages just fine.

IMy specs are:
- GeForce GTX 765m
- Intel i7 processor
(I don't know if you need this, but here it is)
- Broadcom 802.11ac Network adapter
- Qualcomm Atheros AR8171/8175 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
(If there is anything else you need hardware wise, just let me know)

If by firewall ports, you mean allowing them thru the firewall, then yes, I have had to let a few of them thru to play. I've already double checked the games I am having troubles with and all of them are allowed thru. If that is not what yu mean, odds are I haven't done it.

I am having trouble with steam games as well as games not from steam, like Elder Scrolls Online, Minecraft and Elder Scrolls: Legends. For some reason, I can connect just fine to Diablo 3 servers and Guild Wars 2 servers and play them as long as I want.

So I found out what is wrong. They blocked off the router from forwarding certain ports, and there is no way to access the router. I asked one of the staff members at m college and they said that I can't progress any further with this or I would be banned from the college for tampering with school property. I asked someone else about it, and they said the same thing.

Thank your time and effort with all of this.
