When I started my PC this morning, all the fans spun up as normal, but the PC didn't boot. After removing the side panel, I noticed the CPU debug LED was lit up, which, according to the MB manual, means the CPU is either not recognized or faulty. Because everything was running fine yesterday, I suspected this was just a glitch of some sort and I tried the following to resolve the issue:
- reseat heatsink
- reseat processor
- check all cables
Since none of this made any difference, I inspected the mainboard itself and noticed that the circled part in the linked picture below was of a brownish colour on my board:

It looks like the mainboard is to blame, so I'll have to replace that. Does anyone have any experience with an issue like this when it comes to RMA'ing? If MSI's answer is likely to be that I myself am at fault, I'd rather just get a new board immediately, since I really need the system. Also, how likely is it additional components were damaged?
