Hey, I currently own a 1151 motherboard and I'm planning on getting the new Kaby Lake when it comes out, will they work on the motherboard I already own or will I need to buy a new one?

Wait for launch and see if your board's manufacturer will issue a Kaby compatibility BIOS update for your board or check if the manufacturer may have already announced its intent to support Kaby on it. You won't know for certain until then.
