our external hard drive fell from my brother many times, now I hear long beeping sound when i connect it and i cant see it anymore on my devices. so i guess head is broken now?
I already read that in such case it must go to professional but of course it will be pretty expensive
so is there any possible thing i can try to recover some files?

Hi there mamerala,

Well, I would say that is really unpleasant. :(

Unfortunately, mechanical drives are really vulnerable to shocks/hits. Most probably, the drive is physically damaged.
In this case, you will not be able to access it with software tools.

I believe that if the data is really important, you should at least contact a data recovery company and see what the guys over there are going to say. You can check WD's Data Recovery Partners out: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=5A3aQn

If you don't really want to go with that option, you can see if the drive could be accessed by some data recovery tool. (even though I doubt that)
Also, if you have a spare USB cable, you can use that one as well.

Cheers,
