Well... the title.

I can't find any actual test of cpu performance while surfing.

It's the only use it's ever gonna have, so I was thinking of a Celeron G1820 maybe.

I'd like to hear opinions on this processor, or maybe recommendations :^)

Solution
Anandtech does this sort of testing.

They haven't reviewed Skylake Pentiums and Celerons yet, but I'm inclined to believe they'll be exactly what you're looking for. Pick up a G3900 or G4400.

Cool, thanks. The only problem is that the G3900 isn't available in my country and the G4400 is roughly twice the price than the G1820.

Does AMD have any comparable products to the G3900?

Sortof. Intel's cores are roughly twice as fast as AMD's, and web browsing is more sensitive to faster cores than more cores. Any AMD A-series APU or Athlon x4 for socket FM2+ will be a decent chip for browsing, but stay far, far away from any dual core AMD CPU.

The G1820 is probably your best bet, its faster cores will result in a better experience than the more but slower cores in an AMD CPU.

I'll probably end up going for it. Considering the price gap between the pentium and the celeron in my country...
Thanks

This cpu is $80 and will do the job very well. https://www.amazon.com/AMD-4-Core-Black-FX-4300-FD4300WMHKBOX/dp/B009O7YU3S/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1451792041&sr=1-2&keywords=amd+4+core

If you want cheaper ($40) it will be slower, but its still totally usable for basic web browsing. Its about the same speed as the celeron the guy above me reccomended, but a bit cheaper and has 4 cores. https://www.amazon.com/AMD-AD5350JAHMBOX-Quad-core-Desktop-Processor/dp/B00IOMFAQ0/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1474162936&sr=1-2&keywords=amd+4+core

Give me an fast FM2 CPU thats faster than that AM3 i showed. Also, you must not know how fast the FX-4300 is then.
Read the bottom of the post next time. Had an 4 core APU that was cheaper than your celeron and had 4 cores /w almost similar performance.

I know exactly how fast the FX-4300 is. FM2+ CPUs are a newer architecture with similar core counts and clockspeeds.

FX-4300 - 4 cores, 2nd gen Piledriver architecture, 3.8ghz base / 4ghz turbo
Athlon x4 880K - 4 cores, 3rd gen Steamroller architecture, 4ghz base / 4.2ghz turbo

I thought about going for a cheap APU, but the guy that's going to use it doesn't need 4 cores. he's going to use outlook 2013 and browsing simple websites at most. So I figured I need faster cores instead of more cores. Though I'm not sure how AMD clocks work compared to Intel clocks. Not an expert in CPUs...

Intel CPUs are much faster per clock, but have fewer cores at the same price. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for. AMD's APUs are decent enough chips, but they consume about twice as much power (and are more noisy) at the same price and performance level.

Google's Octane and Mozilla's Kraken benchmarks are good indicators. The Pentium probably will perform better, given both a clockspeed and performance per clock advantage. However, when you have multiple background tasks going on, the i5 will show its strengths.

For web browsing I haven't notice any difference in desktop performance between Intel or AMD, cheap or expensive. My i7 4790k is no better than my FX-8320E or G3258 in that regard. Benchmarks are basically worthless for the average home user. If the G1820 is cheapest go for it.
