I have an old Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD2 motherboard laying around. It only has two fan headers (CPU and SYS). Both are 4 pins. I'm using it for a small home server build and am looking at fans for it. (I already have a splitter for adding more fans)
I saw a post saying that a 3-pin fan plugged into a 4-pin header can only operate a full speeds unless the header is a "hybrid". I wanted to double check this before I go off and buy a bunch of PWM fans.
How can I tell if my 4-pin headers are hybrid? It's a pretty barebones board, so I'm not sure what to assume.
Thanks for any help!
