So i bought a XFX radeon RX 480 8GB and after installing the card and drivers i booted up GTA V and on very high settings i only get 30-40 FPS and in AC: Syndicate only 30-35 fps under the recommended requirements. If i look at the performance tests on these games they should give me above 60fps does anyone know how to fix this?

Specs:
AMD FX 6350 clocked at 3.9GHz
600W power supply
XFX RX 480 8GB (connected with a 8pin connector)
AsRock-N68-GS4-FX
3X seagate baracuda 320GB

Thanks in advance.

Solution
& I can tell you 100% that asrock are liars & that board can't handle your CPU at all under any kind of heavy load mate..
Remember I'm here to help (& also because I despise the instant amd bottleneck comments that these posts attract)

Download amd over drive, install it, run, open the CPU status tab which shows cores & speeds.

http://

Download Intel burn test

http://

Run it, start a test.

Let me know what happens to clock speeds (I already know theyll keep dropping to 1400mhz)

That's board vrm throttling.

If the Zen architecture only supports am4 what is the best cpu i can get for the AM3+ socket. I have a Xeon X3450 is this CPU better than the FX 6350?

What CPU should you recommend not all that expensive but 1 that doesnt bottleneck the gpu and is better.

Already have the HyerX 8GB but in DDR3. I dont have the money to buy a new 1.

the 6350 can do 50-60fps on both those titles 99% of the time.
the problem is not the cpu & is not bottlecking because its too weak ( I do get sick of this claptrap all the time)

The problem is down to the board not being good enough for the 6350.
Youve finally got a gpu capable of pushing big fps & pulling more cpu usage & your board is throttling because your vrm's cant handle the cpu itself.

That board is in no way capable of running a 125w cpu at all.

That board is specially made for the FX series so i doubt that is possible i read several post about this bottleneck from people with a FX series CPU.

^ no its not , its a crappy old asrock nforce board that originally supported am3 chips & had am3+ support added at a later date to include sketchy support for95w max am3+ chips.

The 6350 is a 125w chip that's heavily overvolted & that board cannot handle it.

No i see in the specs that it can support 125 Watt and is optimized for AMD FX 8 core processors.

For some reason i cant start my pc right now but i might believe you because i black ops 3 ( a non CPU intensive game) i will get the full performance ca. 70-100FPS on maxed out settings.

No even worser i cant get my pc on display but i made a decision. Im buying these parts:
Mobo: GigaByte G1 .sniper B6
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
CPU: Intel i5 4460 3,2 GHZ

I stick to DDR3 not DDR4 of the i5 6400 or i3 6100.
