My Windows 7 Core i7 2600 computer usually boots fine but after starting and being used for a bit it tends to hang. It never fully locks up for gives the blue screen of death and I can still move the pointer and hear the hard disk working, but nothing happens. It happens almost any time I try to uninstall something. Some games work fine but other will tend to make it hang as well. It is also very common for it to hang on shut down. I've run scans and the HDD does have some bad sectors.

Just wondering if this would definitely be a HDD failure or symptoms of some other fault given that my video card just recently died as well.

Computer was purchased in spring 2012.

Intel Core i7 2600
16 GB Ram (voltage tested and seems good)
Currently using onboard video but did have a Radeon HD 6770 but card is now blown and gives and error beep code when installed.
1TB Seagate Baracuda HDD
460W Power Supply

Hi there Jacobmaria,

That is unpleasant. :(

My suggestion would be to back up the data stored on the drive.
After that, you can test it, so we can see how poor the condition is: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
It would be nice if you can provide a screenshot of the SMART report.

You can't be a 100 % if the HDD is causing it, but as you know it has some bad sectors, it is the most probable cause.

Let me know how this goes,
