Hi,

I've been using my current system for awhile now (2 years) and I am starting to see that it's and not hitting favorable framerates for the settings I want.

My system
Intel Core i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM
GeForce GTX 760
OS Windows 10 64bit
240GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD
Toshiba 1TB HDD (Idk the speed)

I've been looking at upgrade options and have come to two conclusions. I could either get a GTX 1070 and replace my 760, or wait a bit and completely upgrade the whole thing with a Skylake chip and DDR4 RAM. Which route should I take? If there's any other good options please let me know.
Thanks

Upgrade to a 1070 first. Your i5 3470 is still in great shape and wont get to much of a difference upgrading to an i5 6500.

On the other hand, upgrading your 760 to a 1070 will more than double your power as fas as gpu.

I had an 760 running on my skylake and after upgrading to the 1070 G1 from gigabyte, wont be thinking in any more upgrades any soon (assuming i dont plan to change my current monitor that runs 1080p 60 Hz)

Unless you wanna play in 2k or 4k at 144 Hz, you be just fine

That really clarifies the decision for me, thx! Would the Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 AMP Edition be a good choice, it's on the cheaper side (Sub $600CAD(CAD ik it's horrific )) and has a clock of 1607 MHz. and has some lighting on it :D. What's your opinion?

Zotac AMP is Great, go for it man.

Like said above, if you using a 1080p 60Hz monitor, a 1060 GPU will be able to handle it.

Some say it´s a waste using a 1070 on a monitor like that, which I do have. I see as an investment for future games, VR etc. It has 8 Gb of DRAM and a great clock and power, so if it doesn´t hurt your pockets, I would choose the 1070 over a 1060, don´t wanna change my GPU again in 2 or 3 years

I have a BenQXL2411 144hz monitor. I play CSGO a bit, but on other titles, I want to get 144FPS on Ultra/High settings for silky smooth gameplay. It does seem overkill I know, but the GTX 1070 seems like a full proof and future proof graphics solution so that whenever I may or have to upgrade my CPU and other things, I won't have to worry about GPU.
