i am going for a gtx 1060 ... got i7 - 2600K, 16gb ddr3, 1SSD and 1 HDD, but my iball PSU is making too much noise and is of cheap quality

can you guys recommend me a decent PSU? i have looked into corsair cx 500 which is around 4,000 inr here .... seasonic 500 is about 6,000 inr .... is seasonic worth giving 2k over the corsair one considering both are 500w?

and why have the PSUs become so expensive all of a sudden? lol

Good quality PSUs are expensive because they will last 5-10X as long as crappy PSUs. Paying twice as much for something you will need to replace one fifth as often is ultimately much cheaper.

Another factor that is driving costs up is efficiency: to be eligible for any 80+ certification, PSUs need APFC and that adds ~$10 to the cost.

i always thought corsair is a good quality PSU and i am not looking to using a PSU for more than 3 years too .... im sure ill be needing more than just the 500W then considering the rapid changes in technology ... and i am not interested in buying a 650 or more as there might be a better technology after 3 years again .. so is still the seasonic worth over the corsair? performance is all i am concerned here

You bet it would. Seasonic and Antec are still the top tiers when it comes to PSU.

i have 2 options from those brands for 500 W here ... kindly let me know what to go for
http://www.amazon.in/dp/B005O8PNSM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2MIWX7B67OA6U&coliid=I3CB971VJY47AS

the antec one is almost as half as the seasonic .... which one would be better and why is there such a huge price difference between them if both are top tiers ?

Sesonic is more expensive because it's more power efficient than Antec, and it's also modular, whereas the Antec is not.

The S12 series isn't modular, that's the M12 series.

Efficiency-wise, the VP500P meets 80+ Bronze efficiency requirements, it only lacks APFC which is of no importance to most people since most countries' utilities don't bill residential customers for reactive and distortion power but is required for 80+ certification.

found a Antec VP 500 for 3370 inr against the Corsair CX 500W - 4430 inr and Seasonic one for 6000inr ... im thinking of going for Antec as its at a reasonable price and i hear it is a good brand like seasonic ... what do you think i should do?
