First off, here's my specs (everything brand new):
CPU - AMD FX 6300
GPU - R9 380x
MOBO - MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition
Memory - 8GB Corsair Vengeance
HD - WD RE4 500 GB Enterprise Hard Drive
PSU - EVGA 500 W1, 80+ White 500W
OS - Windows 10 Education Edition

So, I built this rig about 2 weeks ago, but I have had freezing problems ever since day 1. The computer will hard freeze, i.e. I can't use the mouse or keyboard, and the sound turns off. Always requires a hard reset. Freezing symptoms are mostly exacerbated by playing games, such as Rocket League, CSGO, or Hearthstone. I can't even get through the opening cut scenes of Deus Ex: Mankind Evolved. The freezes occur within anywhere from 5-20 minutes of turning the games on. The longest I have made it without freezing is around 2-3 hours of Rocket League. I have yet to get a freeze while just browsing the Internet. One time a freeze occurred while just on the desktop, no programs open, and installing a graphics driver.

I have done everything under the sun to try and diagnose the problem including (but possibly not limited to):
1. Clean install of Windows 10; made sure everything is fully updated.
1.5. The computer is not overclocked, and never has been.
2. Update BIOS.
3. Make sure all drivers are up to date (as above, one time a freeze occurred when I didn't even have a GPU driver installed). Also screwed around with reverting drivers to older versions, did not work either.
4. Disable AMD TurboCore technology in the BIOS, as well as Cool 'N Quiet.
5. Replace MOBO. I used to have ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0, but bought a new MOBO in case it was faulty.
6. Ran Memtest for 9 passes, no errors.
7. Ran Prime95 for about 45 minutes, my CPU was 2-5 degrees cooler than temp threshold of 70. No errors. AMD Overdrive/ CPU-Z were open at the same time, and all voltages, MHz, etc. were steady and acceptable.
8. Disabled WSearch and superfetch.
9. Changed my pagefile settings so min=1024xram and max =1024xramx2 (in order to combat possible 100% disk usage).
10. Checked the event logs. I am admittedly not really an expert on this part so will provide file dump link at end of post.
11. In Windows power management settings, turn Link State Power Management off.
12. Used a built in Windows tool to scan my files for any corruptions or errors. None were found.
13. Cry myself to sleep.

The majority of the solutions listed above were found and recommended from reading a looooooot of random forums, including this one.

All in all, this whole ordeal has been infuriating, to say the least. I spent all this money and I just can't get my system to be stable. For the love of God, can somebody please tell me what is going on with my computer? I just want to finally ascend to that sweet sweet sweet PCMR.

Thank you for reading of my troubles! Please ask any questions you may have and I will answer them as quickly as I can!

how did you set your ram timing? is it running default timings?

look in your bios. are your voltages acceptable (all values should be within 10%)??? though a good 500 watt PSU should work I would have recommended a 650 watt one.

did you download the os from Microsoft? some of the errors make me wonder if its clean os.

RAM timings are all default. Yes, all voltages are good. And yes, I downloaded from Microsoft.

I bet you are getting hot. If you are running a stock cooler with it I can almost guarantee you are getting to Hot. A hyper 212 evo works great to cool this CPU. I had a 6300 I just sold to a buddy using a 212 evo and under load it sat at like 50c

FYI amd TJ max is not a published value. only amd socket temp is published which is what he is 2-5C from. amd used "THERMAIL MARGIN" as the temp away from TJ MAX. which you have to use amd overdrive to read thermal margin. "Thermal margin" is the way to know how far away the actual core temp is away from max die temp and it is actually getting within 10c of it is not considered good. Thermal margin the larger the number the better, if it gets to 0 or a negative number your in trouble.

Thanks for all the answers everybody! I have been closely monitoring the temps, thermal margins, etc. when freezes occur and it's not an overheating problem. At this point I have checked off every potential box except for one: the PSU. I don't believe the current 500W is sufficient so ordered a new 750W one. Cheers!

Late reply i know.... i just had the same issue, its the sata drivers i think, change the sata driver to the amd ones (i got it from the AMD catalyst pacakage). And i got rid of the freezes. This is for SB 950 chipsets.
