Pentium g4400 or fx 4350 for gaming rig i do plan on upgrading later

Will the pentium be better for skylake and upgrade path will there be a big performance differenece between the two

If you are open to future upgrade go for G4400. If you choose this path you can upgrade as high to i7 6700 which is a very big boost

Rx 480 or gtx 1060 around xmas and if i go intel ill save for i5 i have the 4350 but have seem am3plus is out of date

Yes its old still capable,not really the fx 4350 but an fx 83xx is still a good solution.The i5 upgrade is better but more expensive,not point to go with the g4400,in many games is actually the same or worst than your fx4350.

So the g4400 would be good because i plan on getting i5 later

Yes the intel path is better for upgrade and future proofing.

No,that's not what i meant.You have already an fx 4350 as you said,there is no point to buy an g4400,when you will have the budget go straight for the i5.

When you are going for a new build budget distribution is important. If you want gaming rig try pushing budget more towards GPU and get a decent CPU. For example i5-6600K and GTX1080 will perform lot better than i7-6700K and GTX1070.
