Ok so I have a basic optical mouse as described.

Under all optical mice I have ever had there has been a red light at the bottom where the mouse ball is on non optical mice.

On my optical mouse there is no red light (but there is that hole there with the little glass thing) but it still works but it feels more sluggish than it used to. I cannot remember if there was a red light there or not. Maybe its my imagination.

Any help appreciated.

Most likely, yes. But long as its functioning well, I wouldn't sweat the IR light going out. Esp for a £10 mouse. It's not uncommon in some optical mice for it to cut out after, say, a drop or three, or after used for some time. For past optical mice which it's happened to me with, I've found it has minimal impact on actual performance. Not saying it doesn't matter or affect performance, only that I haven't noticed any measurable performance hit as a result of it.

I think I may have accidentally pressed the dpi buttons which are very prominent on the mouse. They should really have a little bit of wording because a lot of people will adjust sensitivity that way.

I am happy with the sensitivity now on the mouse after adjusting the dpi and in game settings . I game a lot and take my KD ratio maybe a bit too seriously so I kinda freaked out.
