My PC doesnt boot, when I start a message appears in bios 'S.M.A.R.T. capable command failed' under my wd geen 2tb .
Is my hard disk dying or it is another problem because sometimes my pc starts properly but hard disk is slow .
Sometimes it detects my other hard drive not 2tb one.when it is detected , its use is 100% in the task manager
Model- Western Digital Caviar Green 2 TB Desktop WD Internal Hard Drive (WD20EZRX).

Yeah, that's tough if it's not allowing you to copy.

Unfortunately, that's the risk of not maintaining frequent back ups.

I'm not sure what to tell you at this point. You need a new drive regardless. You might have more luck after you install a new drive, connecting your existing/old drive as a secondary or external USB drive - you might luck out & be able to back up that way. If not, and you can't afford to lose your data, professional data recovery companies are your only option.

Failing S.M.A.R.T is certainly an indication of a failing drive.

Back up immediately the next time you can enter into the OS. It'll likely be slow going if it's in bad shape, but you may only have a few successful boots left, so it'll be worth the time (if you have anything you can't afford to lose).

Then replace the drive.

I tried backing up copying rise of tr but speed went down to 0 bytes per second.
I think I might need a new one, but problem is the data. Is there any way to repair it?
