Hi, recently I was playing some games on my PC when out of interest I checked the temperature of my GPU. It turned out to be running at 100°C+. I found the cause of this problem which was that MSI Afterburner had switched off of my normal fan curve.

The problem is now resolved but I was wondering if this extreme heat may have caused any permanent damage. My card is a R9 380 Nitro and I must of played quite a few hours of games before noticing. I didn't see any artifacts on the screen nor did my PC shut down so I am hoping that it is fine.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated :)

It can cause damage, and maybe in the long term some day you could have a failure if something like that happens again. But at this point if it works correctly now I would not worry about it. Theres nothing you can do to fix it, nor is there anything you can do to check for "damage".
