Brand new 1tb HDD extremely slow and almost impossible to install games on to

So i built my new computer about three weeks ago no problems with anything upon setup but when i started to download steam to my HDD it would take about 15 minutes for it to launch sometimes longer and when i tried to install any games to it the install would almost take a day to install then when i would try to launch the game it would either crash instantly or not work at all I also have a 150gb SSD that i use that i later installed steam on to and installed a few games to steam opens in an instant and the games download within 20 minutes and open correctly first try my HDD was brand new out of the box and it does show up as a readable device on my computer i can download simple files to it like pictures and music with no problem at all but large files seem to take forever to install and every time dont work at all once installed i just dont know what it could be

Odd. Any noises coming from the drive? Any viruses that may be slowing anything down? Bad sata cable? If possible, you should probably return the Hard Drive from where you got it from and get a new one and see if that will help. Could be a faulty drive.

No there is no noise coming from the hard drive at all and there are no viruses at least none that my antivirus program is picking up ill try swithing the sata port if thats not it ill change the sata cable and if thats not it then ill return it

i fixed it by changing the sata port and cable
