Should I choose a computer case with no cd/dvd drive slot?

Hello,

I've spent hours in choosing a case for my new PC, however all the ones I really like have no slot for CD/DVD drive. Last time I booted a new PC for the first time the video card and the motherboard had a separate CD along with them to install most of the drivers and various control applications. If I buy a computer case with no way to read these CD's wont I make it too difficult for myself?

Solution
It is worth noting that the drivers on that disk are likely outdated. I recommend installing only the Ethernet/WiFi drivers to get online, then downloading the newest versions of device drivers from their manufacturer websites.

Another way to do this is to get all the newest drivers from the manufacturer websites via another computer, copy them to a USB flash drive and put that flash drive in the computer that needs them. This eliminates the need to use the disk in the first place.

nope. You can and should download the drivers straight from the manufacturers website (and no other website), the ones on the disc are guaranteed to be old and out of date.

You can always pick up a USB external drive later if you really need a disc drive.

I agree. I just put in about the disk for network drivers in case he didn't have a computer to download ethernet drivers from. Not all replies on here are from desktops, and many portable devices don't have USB Type A ports so you'd need an adapter to use a flash drive.
