I bought a new 500gb SSD harddrive and wanted to start from scratch with my OS and storage setuproducts. Originally I had an 125gb SSD with my OS and some of main programs, a 4tb HHD that I was using for storage and some of my less used programs, and a 1TB HD that is full and was used on an older PC of mine for both OS and storage.

I installed the new 500gb SSD into the rig and made a Windows installer thumbdrive. Had some issues reformatting and installing windows. The first thing I did in the installer was to delete the content of the 125gb SSD where the previous OS was. But it wouldn't let me install Windows on the new 500gv SSD because it said it was not a GPT drive. The original windows on the smaller SSD was gone, I didn't know what to do, so I temporarily chose to install Windows on the only drive that it would letake me, the 4tb HHD. I thought I'd do that just so I could get into Windows and figure the whole MBR/GBT thing and then reformat again and install Windows on the new SSD. I kept running into problems on the Windows installation process on that HHD though and and ended up repeating the process several times (there are now several "old windows" folders in that drive).

I finally figured out that if I choose to delete the 500gb SSD drive during installation and then add it as a new one then it will let me install Windows, so that's what I did. Windows installed fine (I wasn't sure what to pick when it asked me if I wanted to install Windows 10 on volume 10 or 7 though), and this is where I am at now.

I looked I the "This PC" in the file managemento, other than the 4 harddrives it also displayed sla few 100mb system reserves. Opened up disk management and the while thing just seems like a mess to me. I will attach have screen shots. I read that system reserve partitions were automatically created for the drives that store the OS so I tried to delete those partitions on the 125gb SSD and the HHDs, and now they are just unallocated space that are bugging me. Other strange things are that there are these 100mb and 450mb reserved partitions on the other drives but no such thing on the new 500gb SSD which now has the OS. And then on the 4tb HHD I see both a 3.7gb partition and an 3.9gb unallocated partition, seems really wierd to me. Anyway, before I more forward installing drivers and software I want toare sure all this is figured out and I have solid/clean foundation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Remove all the drives except the one you want to install Windows on, run the setup. Connect the other drives to the system once that is done. If none of those drives contain any files you need, go into disk manager, delete all the partitions on the drives from there, create a single partition on the drive, and format it. You'll have a normal setup again. If you have files you need to save, back those up, then do the partitioning.
