Is it worth buying a 1TB SSD?

Hello. I'll try to make it short and simple. At the moment, I have the chance to get a Samsung 850EVO SATA III Internal SSD for a good price. I've never had an internal ssd before, thus I'm not sure if it's really worth the upgrade. My current hard drive is failing which is why I'm looking for a replacement. The thing is, that, if I go for the SSD, it'd be just it, the ssd alone.

Is it necessary to have an HDD with an SSD or will I be okay with just the SSD?
Also, what's the average durability of an SSD?

Thanks a lot in advance.

If you can, you're better off getting a smaller SSD for your OS and most commonly used programmes, and then a far larger standard HDD for your data (games, movies, photos etc etc). You'll notice a huge performance increase with the SSD as your boot drive. General rule of thumb is that SSDs have a lifespan that can be increased by reducing the read/write cycle (hence using a normal HDD for your data)

Also, here's an article on SSD durability which might be of use in your decision making: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2856052/grueling-endurance-test-blows-away-ssd-durability-fears.html
