Hi, I'm building a pc and I'm wondering if the PSU is a good enough quality to use in my build.

The XFX in OPs first Post is the same price and Way better quality??

Also when I look around the forums and someone got a PSU problem it's very often a Corsair CX PSU...
i'm happy for you that yours seem to work
But that's the thing with low quality units - 1 might work like a charm while another one wrecks your build within a year

I want to be slightly future proofed and that was the cheapest best quality I could find for 600w. I read that you want to get a PSU 50% higher wattage than your parts require for efficenty or is this wrong?

Not really, and the required wattage of that hardware is not usually reached in the real world anyway. With that CPU I can't see you ever needing 550w but you'd probably be ok with 450. It's just my opinion, but I can't see any upgrade you can do now or in the future that will require that much power. And you will appreciate the modularity (as you wont have wires everywhere in your case) and extra connections on the PSU more, plus will probably have a cheaper electricity bill at the end of the month to boot!

Oke let me help you, that psu is waaaaay more than enough and is also high quality.

Your system will not use more than 250w when gaming.

Not convinced yet? I run a gtx 1070+ i7 4790 on a 550w psu with no problems :)

So what ever you do, you dont have to buy a new one.

@Multipack The 400w be quiet pure power 9 looks to be a very good option. I will add this to my parts list and thank you @hdgaming I was quite skeptical of getting a 500w PSU so thank you for the piece of mind :)

those are both horrible PSUs
please don't recommend them.

the CX500M is the old CX-series which is lowest quality
the pure power series isn't known to be very reliable either

the XFX in the original build is way better than both of those units and will do a good job
if you want a gold-efficient PSU, look for Seasonic G or EVGA Supernova G2

It was price restricted and unfortunately better PSU's are more expensive. I am aware they aren't great but WAY too much is made of them being poor PSU's and I used a CX series PSU for years without a problem. Believing everything we read is a bigger problem.

I'm not all that bothered about the PSU being modular or not, just as long as its reliable and wont break down. I know its overkill but I feel having a much higher wattage PSU than needed will mean I will be able to upgrade any components without worring about it blowing up. I know there wont be anything that I immediately add that will need that power, but I plan on using the PSU for a while.

seeing as technology progresses, new units tend to draw less energy than old ones.
my new i7-6700k draws only 2/3 of the power my old Phenom I drew while being... 5 times as powerful?
550W can handle any single GPU setup (unless AMDs ridiculous Radeon r9 200 series)
if you plan on using it for a while, a quality PSU is mandatory. usually a PSU that has 5 years warranty is distinctively better than one that only comes with 3 years warranty
