Recently had a file system corruption issue on a Seagate Barracuda 5Tb drive. Believe the hardware of the drive to be okay because corruption occurred on multiple drives simultaneously due to a faulty enclosure. I want to re-format and reuse this drive, however I am running into problems.
I initially received the error "Windows is unable to format the drive." So I opened up disk management. It showed two separate 2048 Gb disks instead of the single 5Tb disk. Disk 1 contained a single partition, while disk 2 was offline. I deleted the partition and brought both disks online as GPT, but that is as far as I got. I tried converting to dynamic disks and creating a spanned volume, but in both cases I received the error "The operation is not supported by the object."
Here is a screenshot:
Any thoughts or suggestions? Could I be wrong in my assumption that the drive is not failing?
