Hello. I've just upgraded my HP Pavilion 17-f029wm laptop with a 525GB SSD & 8GB RAM. I was thinking of upgrading the AMD A-6 6310 APU (CPU?) and I understand the processor is embedded. Which means a new motherboard also. I've been having a hell of a time finding a match, if I can get any help at all!!! Everyone seems so "UP" on all components, but motherboards. Can anyone help me directly or point me in the right direction? Your help and expertise would be greatly appreciated... Thanks & Best, LeRoy

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's a laptop. Besides RAM and storage, you pretty much can't upgrade anything. The best you can do is to take your ram and storage upgrades and put them on a new laptop. If you have one of them newfangled laptop-shaped thingies with MXM GPU's and desktop CPU's that cost thousands upon thousands of dollars, then you might be able to do upgrades on individual components, but it's a low end HP Pavilion from 2014.

Short answer: The only thing you can do is buy a new laptop.

APU graphics can easily match a gtx 730, and will probably match a 750ti if you get the best APU on the market. It certainly won't match an r9 380, let alone an rx 480.

IDK about your CPU/mobo upgrade.
APU means its a CPU and GPU in the same chip.
Even more simply told, smash an CPU and GPU together and you got an APU. APUs tend to be a bit slower and cheaper in some cases but the graphics performance is much better than regular intergraded graphics. Its like an happy-medium. Little of both worlds.
APU graphics cant replace an dedicated GPU though (IE, GTX 730, 750ti, R9 480)
